This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for Recreation Activity Officers and Lifestyle staff, Health care workers, AINs in Aged Care and Community Care.
The training focuses on enhancing the well-being of residents and participants who require care through programs that extend beyond clinical care plans.
Workers may be in residential facilities, community care settings and day centres, carrying out specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health.
On completion of the course students will have gained new skills and knowledge to design and facilitate leisure and recreation programs in a residential or community setting.

- Credit transfer from Certificate III in Individual Support and any other relevant qualification reduce attendance requirements, study load and the enrolment fee

For Students:
- Our students: typically work in Residential Aged Care, Disability Support Services and Community Care service providers
- Are Lifestyle and Recreational Activity Officers;
- Disability Support Workers: in Group Home’s and/or Community care setting;
- AINs aiming to transition to the Lifestyle/RAO job role
Student Support:
- One on one support available where required
- Our Trainers are industry professionals with extensive teaching experience
- Support staff are readily available to respond to your queries
- Catch up classes may be offered in the unlikely event that a class is missed
Training and Assessment Includes:
- Interactive and high engagement live Zoom classes
- Face to Face sessions at your workplace or in a fully equipped simulated training environment
- Self-directed learning (at home)
- Workplace training hours/ Work Placement
- Written Assessment Tasks – Question and Answer and Small Projects
- Practical/Simulated Assessment Tasks
- Workplace visits, to conduct assessments, observations and provide face to face support (one on one or small groups)
About Work Placement:
- A minimum of 120 hours to fulfil the requirements of the qualification
- Students may utilise work hours as an alternative to undertaking a 120 hour work placement (suitability conditions apply)
- We can assist students to find a host for placement if required via our established network of Residential Aged Care and Community Care industry partners
- We visit you at work, to conduct assessments and workplace observations, to finalise workplace evidence requirements

Course Entry Requirements:
Prior to the commencement of training a Pre-Training Review will be conducted.
This starts with a telephone or personal meeting with our Training Manager who will provide comprehensive course information and answer your questions to ensure this is the right course for you before you enrol.

Wentworth College is an approved Training Provider for NSW Smart and Skilled funding, this training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
The NSW Department of Education and Communities sets out Enrolment fees for Smart and Skilled funded training.
The fee/ student contribution is calculated based on your individual circumstances and ranges from $0 – $2,320
For example if you are in recipient of an eligible Commonwealth benefit or allowance, the fee is waived or the concession rate may be applicable.
